Transverse Ocarinas

The Transverse Ocarina was the invention of Giuseppe Donati, who made the instrument in the mid 1800’s in Budrio, Italy. With its typically oblong, conical, and tapered form, It has become one of the most easily recognizable styles of the ocarina, appearing in various plays, films, video games, records and musicals.

All of our Transverse Ocarinas are carefully handcrafted by Ross in our workshop. They're responsive, beautiful, accurately tuned, and a joy to hold. Partner and  skilled artist Aerica adds breathtaking sculpture and finish work to a number of our Instruments, making them works of truly playable art.

We make several styles of Transverse, all with various finishes and playing characteristics.
